Back in March, when the Big Shot 109 Main Event was a recent addition to the 888poker calendar, British grinder “CurrD” won it. CurrD was once again the final guy remaining in the $150,000 guaranteed Big Shot 109 Main Event on October 10. In the $109 buy-in tournament, Victory came after outlasting 1,437 opponents. At 7:00 p.m., the cards were dealt, and CurrD needed little over 9.5 hours to win all 21,570,000 chips in competition. Their reward was a whopping $21,915.
CurrD wasn’t the only British competitor to reach the final table of an 888poker tournament this weekend. “CocMarsh” took eighth place in the $50,000 Big Shot 525 for $2,000, while “Anton1524” took fourth place in the $2,100 buy-in Big Shot High Roller for $7,000. All three players will be fired up for the forthcoming XL Autumn Series.
The 888poker XL Autumn Series has a jam-packed program of 44 events with guaranteed prize pools totaling more than $2 million. Each tournament has three buy-in levels, each of which costs $1,050 unless you win your way in through one of the many low-cost satellites or daily freerolls. The XL Autumn series Main Event, the 43rd tournament in the series, is a multi-flight event with Day 1s running everyday from October 3 to November 1.
Patrick “thebigdog09” Brooks has won the Bounty Builder Series at PokerStars. Brooks took first place in the 81st event, the $109 NLHE 8-Max PKO, which drew 2,493 players. Fintan “easywithaces” Hand of Team PokerStars busted in 11th place, but our guy persevered and transformed his second $109 chance into the championship and $26,177.
“Riverbanged” Ollie Bithell was another PokerStars winner from the United Kingdom. Bithell took first place in the $215 Sunday Warm-Up and took home $7,951. Fellow Brits “jwilly1984” and “SCALDINIO” joined him at the final table, winning $1,772 and $720 respectively.
